Tree Removal in Memorial Park
The Municipality of Port Hope is committed to the responsible care and management of our trees and greenspaces. As part of our annual review and maintenance program, Municipal staff (under the guidance of a certified arborist) regularly assess the health and stability of trees on Municipal properties, including those in Memorial Park.
Following recent assessment, our team identified one maple tree in the north section of Memorial Park as a significant safety concern. The tree is aging and structurally compromised, and the arborist’s report has classified it as hazardous and recommended its removal. The removal of the tree is now underway.
We recognize the significance of trees in our community and remain committed to balancing preservation with public safety. Additionally, replanting considerations are included in the Municipality’s roads and parks operational plans and are considered to be a priority.
We appreciate the community’s understanding as we undertake this necessary work to maintain a safe and sustainable urban tree canopy.
