Victoria Day Closures
Residents are advised of the following impacts to service due to the upcoming Victoria Day Holiday.
Administrative building closures
Municipal administrative buildings will be closed on Monday, May 19, 2025 for the Victoria Day holiday. Services will resume on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at their usual operating hours.
For urgent services related to water, wastewater or roads, call 905-885-2431 and press * to reach our after-hours emergency line.
Other Municipal Services
Please note the following services will also be unavailable or on a modified schedule on Monday, May 19, 2025:
- Transit Service - no transit running
- The Hope Transfer Station - Closed
- Recreational Facilities:
- Jack Burger Sports Complex - Modified Schedule (pool open 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
- Town Park Recreation Centre - Closed
- Port Hope Public Library:
- Mary J. Benson Branch - Closed (also closed May 18)
- Canton Hub Branch - Closed (also closed May 18)
All above services will resume on Tuesday, May 20 at their usual operating hours.
Long weekend safety reminder
As the weekend approaches, residents are reminded of the regulations for the sale and use of fireworks, per By-law 102-2008. Fireworks can only be used between dusk and 11:00 p.m.
Additionally, a reminder that Burn permits are required for controlled open air burning, within the Municipality. Only recreational burning is permitted in the urban area. Burn permits can now be issued online at porthope.ca/burn-permit. Don't forget to call in and activate your permit before having your fire.
