Walton Street Bridge Watermain Repair Beginning November 2, 2026
The Walton Street Bridge (between Mill Street South and Queen Street) will be reduced to one lane (east bound) until the end of November, while crews complete long-term repairs to the watermain located beneath the bridge and river. These repairs are related to the watermain break that occurred in December 2025.
During this period, some overnight work will be required on November 3 (west side of bridge) and November 4 (East side of bridge and areas of Mill Street South). Completing portions of the work overnight will help minimize water service interruptions to local businesses during regular operating hours. Properties affected by water shut-offs will receive hand-delivered notices with specific details in advance. Please note that a Noise By-law Exemption has been granted for this work.
The north sidewalk of the bridge will also be closed throughout the work. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge.
Anglers are asked to avoid accessing the river trail beside Queenie's Bake Shop and are encouraged to instead use Brogdens Lane to access the ramp north of the bridge. River access will remain available.
Transit Impacts
Transit services will avoid the area during this work. As a result, Bus Stops A1 and B1 will be out of service for the duration of the closure.
