West Beach Restoration Work Begins June 8
Residents are advised that the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) will begin the final stages of restoration work at West Beach during the week of June 8, 2026. The western section of the site is being restored to a naturalized state which will support the potential for both wetland ecology and fisheries habitat in the Alexander Creek area.
During this work, the contractor and authorized site visitors will park in the area behind the Water Treatment Plant. To help manage site activity while maintaining public access, cones will be placed at the far east end of the parking area to identify the contractor’s designated parking area. The main parking lot will remain open and accessible to residents and visitors.
Beach access will remain available from the parking lot and playground area during both working and non-working hours. During working hours, the contractor will maintain a gated pedestrian crossing, with assistance from a trained flag person, to allow safe access across the work area. Please use caution when driving or walking in the area and obey all construction signage and persons.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the final stages of this work.
