Candlelight Walk and Santa Claus Parade Road Closures and Parking Disruptions
The Candlelight Walk returns down Walton Street and this year is going to be bigger and better than ever as we celebrate the conclusion of the Walton Reconstruction Project and kick-off the holiday season with a downtown street party on Friday, November 28.
The following day, on Saturday, November 29, the Santa Claus Parade will also take place on Walton Street at 1:00 p.m. Residents are advised of the following traffic, parking, and transit interruptions to accommodate these events:
Road Closures
Friday, November 28
The following road closures will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- John Street (from Augusta Street to Walton Street)
The following road closures will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- Walton Street (from Cavan Street to Mill Street)
- Ontario Street (from Thompson Street to Walton Street) local parking in Brogdens Lane is open
- Queen street (from Walton Street to Augusta Street) local parking to 24 Queen Street is open
The Candlelight Walk is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m., starting at the Our Lady of Mercy Church Parking Lot (Pine and Walton). An additional Walton Street closure will be in place to accommodate the walk between 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. between Pine Street and Cavan Street.
Saturday, November 29
The following road closures will be in place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to accommodate the annual Santa Claus Parade:
- Bramley Street North and South (from Charles Street to Trafalgar Street)
- Ridout Street and Walton Street (from Toronto Road to Mill Street)
- Queen Street (from Walton Street to Robertson Street)
- Augusta Street (from Queen Street to Elias Street)
Parking restrictions
Parking restrictions will be in place for both events. Residents, business owners, customers, and visitors are all asked to keep the road closure areas clear of parked cars.
Friday, November 28
On Friday November 28, drivers are asked to clear the downtown of parked vehicles to allow for Candlelight Festival set up at time of road closures so we can create a pedestrian-friendly downtown district.- John Street (from Augusta Street to Walton Street)

Saturday, November 29
On Saturday, November 29, residents, business owners, customers, and visitors are asked to keep the following parade and staging areas clear of vehicles from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to allow for spectator viewing.
- Walton Street (from Pine Street to Queen Street)
- Queen Street (from Walton Street to Robertson Street)
- Augusta Street (Queen Street to Elias Street)
- Town Hall parking lot – beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Please note: Vehicles parked in the restricted areas, during the designated times, will be removed.
Transit
Transit buses will be running extended hours (until 9:30 p.m.) on Friday, November 28 to help patrons get to and from the festivities.
Transit Route A and B will be rerouted around the road closures beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29. At this time, stops B2, B3, B4 and stops A2 and A36 with be out of service. During the Santa Claus Parade the Transit Hub will move to the parking lot next door (74 Queen Street).
