Port Hope Council has officially adopted the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, setting a clear direction for the Municipality over the next several years. Strategic plans serve as a long-term roadmap that guides decision-making, promotes responsible growth, and outlines priorities to ensure the community thrives.
The new plan is built on four key pillars:
Inclusive: Strengthening community wellbeing and access to services so all residents can participate fully in civic life.
Prosperous: Supporting a resilient local economy, vibrant downtown, and opportunities for businesses and talent to thrive.
Sustainable: Stewarding our natural assets and infrastructure, advancing climate resilience, and ensuring long-term fiscal responsibility.
Innovative: Modernizing services and embracing continuous improvement, data-informed decision-making, and collaboration.
Council and municipal staff will use these priorities as a guide in planning and decision-making for projects, initiatives, and program implementation. This approach ensures that every action taken aligns with the community’s vision for a vibrant, resilient future.
“The 2025–2028 Strategic Plan reflects the values and aspirations of our community while setting a practical course for the years ahead,” said Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “By focusing on inclusivity, prosperity, sustainability, and innovation, we will align our resources and efforts to deliver responsible growth, enhance quality of life, and provide modern, effective municipal services.”
These priorities reflect the core values that define Port Hope, reaffirmed through the strategic planning process. Port Hope is H.I.P. – Heritage is where we come from. Innovation is what we do. Prosperity is where we are headed. These guiding principles are embedded throughout the Strategic Plan and will continue to shape the community’s growth, honouring our past, embracing progress, and looking confidently toward the future.
The Strategic Plan will guide departmental work plans, budgets, and performance measures through 2028. Progress updates will be reported publicly to ensure accountability and transparency.
