Statutory Public Meeting – April 14, 2026
An application to change the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law has been received for the vacant lands south of Croft Street, east of Wellington Street within the Urban Area of the Municipality of Port Hope. The application was submitted by RFA Planning Consultants Inc. on behalf of the owner 2020910 Ontario Ltd. and is now considered complete under the Planning Act.
A Public Meeting will be held to consider this application (File: ZB01-2026 and OP01-2026) on April 14, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall (56 Queen Street). The meeting is open to everyone and will also be live-streamed on the Municipality’s YouTube channel for those who do not wish to provide comments.
This meeting is being held to inform the public and to receive comments regarding the proposal and is for information purposes only. Council does not make any decisions regarding the proposal at this meeting. Council will deliberate publicly on this matter at a future Committee of the Whole and Council meeting.
What is being proposed?
A six-storey apartment building with 108 rental units, designed as two connected towers with a shared front entrance and hallway. The current zoning only allows medium density development, such as townhouses or smaller apartment buildings.
To make this project possible, the owner is requesting changes to both the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law. These changes would allow the land to be used for high density residential development, which permits larger apartment buildings with more units. The request also includes approval for site-specific permissions within the Zoning By-law, such as allowing three driveways, slightly wider driveways, less landscaping, and loading areas at the front of the site. An extension of Croft Street is also proposed to provide proper access to the building.
