Walton Street Bridge Watermain Repair Beginning November 2, 2026

The Walton Street Bridge (between Mill Street South and Queen Street) will be reduced to one lane (east bound) until the end of November, while crews complete long-term repairs to the watermain located beneath the bridge and river. These repairs are related to the watermain break that occurred in December 2025.

Downtown Closures to Accommodate HBIA Trick or Treat Night

The annual HBIA Trick or Treat night has grown in popularity, attracting hundreds of children last year. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. throughout the Downtown. For safety and to enhance the experience for all, there will be road closures to accommodate pedestrians.

From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, the following closures will be in place:

Road Closures

• Walton Street (from Cavan Street to Mill Street)
• Ontario Street (from Thompson Drive to Walton) local traffic only to Brogdens Lane

Thanksgiving Holiday Closures

A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings, the Hope Transfer Station, Transit Services, the Town Park Recreation Centre, the Jack Burger Sports Complex, and the Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

All municipal services will resume at their usual business hours on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Intersection Closure – Toronto Road/Ridout Street

Residents are advised that the intersection of Toronto Road/Victoria Street South and Ridout Street/Lakeshore Road will be closed beginning Monday, September 28, at 6:00 a.m. for approximately three days (reopening by Wednesday, September 30, at 9:00 p.m.).
