The Municipality of Port Hope marked the start of Black History Month today with a ceremonial Pan-African flag raising at Town Hall, joined by members of Council, municipal staff, and community residents.
The Pan-African flag, also known as the Black Liberation flag, was created in 1920 by Jamaican political activist Marcus Garvey Jr. Its red, black, and green bands symbolize unity, resilience, and the natural wealth of Africa.

Walton Street Parking Meters Installed

Parking meters have now been installed on Walton Street within the Phase 2 construction area, marking the return of metered parking in this section of downtown Port Hope.
Parking enforcement in this area will resume on Monday, February 3, 2025.
During the week of February 3, parking enforcement will include elements of education and reminders to support compliance. Please ensure you continue to pay for parking as required to avoid penalties.
