Minister’s Zoning Order for 65 Ward Street

On June 12, 2023, the Municipality received notice that the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing issued a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO) on June 9, 2023, for the properties at 20 Hope Street South and 65 Ward Street in Port Hope. The MZO overrides the current zoning restrictions and permits the land to be used to erect a long-term care facility on the site with an increase to the allowable height over what is currently permitted.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit has advised that continued poor air quality is expected throughout the week due to the smoke from wildfires burning in Ontario and Quebec. A reminder that residents may visit any of the following facilities during operating hours as a space to find temporary relief from the air quality concerns.

Residents are advised that Fire Services across Northumberland County have lifted the Total Burn Ban effective Tuesday, June 13 at 8:00 a.m. Remember, a Burn Permit is required for open air burning in the rural area of The Municipality of Port Hope.
