Farmers' Market Opening

Residents are advised that the Port Hope Farmers’ Market Executive Committee has announced its opening this Saturday, May 16.

After meeting the requirements of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and obtaining approval from the Municipality for use of the Town Hall parking lot, the Market will open, with food-only vendors and under a strict set of guidelines and criteria from the Health Unit.

Residents are advised that CN Rail is conducting vegetation control activities in the Municipality  between May and October 2020. A regularly updated schedule and FAQ will be available at www.cn.ca/vegetation.

Roadside Vegetation Control in Rural Area

Residents are advised that the Municipality of Port Hope has hired Port Britain Chemicals Inc., to control vegetation along guiderails on rural roadsides in the Municipality (rural area only).

The following pesticide will be used:
Finalsan Pro Commercial Concentrate PCP 30012, under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada)
Active ingredient: Ammonium Salt of Fatty Acid. No surfactants used.

The work will commence the week of May 28 to June 19 and again August 10 to 28, weather permitting.

As the weekend approaches, residents are reminded that the sale and use of fireworks is not permitted for the 2020 Victoria Day holiday.

The ban on fireworks displays supports the Provincial emergency order to limit events and social gatherings to no more than five people.
