Changes to Downtown Parking Fees begin February 17

For the first time in 13 years, all downtown metered on‑street parking spaces and paid municipal parking lots will see a $0.50 per hour rate increase beginning February 17. The weekday parking rate for paid municipal lots and metered on‑street spaces, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., will rise from $1.00 to $1.50 per hour.

Update on 65 Ward Street – Appeal Withdrawn

The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) has advised the Municipality that the appellants, Southbridge Health Care GP Inc., CVH (NO. 6) GP INC., CVH (NO. 6) LP, have withdrawn their appeal. As a result, the OLT file is now closed.
Because the appeal has been withdrawn, Council’s decision to deny the Heritage Permit for the Demolition application (which was decided by a Council vote in June 2023) remains in effect. This means that the permit is still not approved and the demolition can’t proceed.

Today, the Municipality of Port Hope signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to advance collaboration related to the exploration of potential new nuclear generation at the Wesleyville site in Port Hope.

Family Day Closures

A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings, the Port Hope Public Library and the Hope Transfer Station will be closed and transit service unavailable on Monday, February 16, 2026, for the Family Day holiday.
The Town Park Recreation Centre is open for the Family Fun Day Event from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the Jack Burger Sports Complex is open with modified hours and public swimming from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
