Port Hope Invites Residents to “Name that Snowplow” in Lighthearted Contest Ahead of Winter Season

The Municipality of Port Hope is inviting residents of all ages to help name two snowplows in a lighthearted contest to showcase creativity, humour, and community pride.

Fish Sanctuary and Extended Fall Fishing Season

A reminder for residents and visitors that, as directed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), a fish sanctuary is in effect from September 1 to October 14. The sanctuary area extends from the south side of the Jocelyn Street Bridge to the CNR Bridge (the first rail line north of Lake Ontario). There is no fishing allowed in the fish sanctuary.

Labour Day Holiday Closures

A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings, the Hope Transfer Station, Transit Services, the Town Park Recreation Centre, the Jack Burger Sports Complex, and the Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 for the Labour Day Holiday.
All municipal services will resume at their usual business hours on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Pump Track Project Update

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to provide an update on the development of the Pump Track at the Town Park Recreation Centre.
Following community consultation earlier this year, the project team made several modifications to the original design. The most recent design can be viewed on our Engage Port Hope webpage.

Based on significant rainfall, cooler temperatures and more rain in the forecast, the County-wide Open-Air Burn Ban has been lifted in Northumberland County, effective immediately.
