Temporary Transit Service Outage - Cobourg Shuttle

Update 3:30 p.m.: Regular Service on the Express Cobourg Shuttle has resumed.
Residents are advised that the Express Cobourg Shuttle bus is temporarily out of service due to a mechanical issue. Staff are working to resolve the issue.
The in-town routes A and B in Port Hope are not affected. Updates will be posted on the Transit web page as they are available.

Residents are advised of the following impacts to services due to the upcoming Easter Holiday.
Administrative building closures:Municipal administrative buildings are closed on Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, 2025.
For urgent services related to water or roads, call 905-885-2431 and press * to reach our after-hours emergency line.
Transit service impacts:Municipal Transit service will run on a modified schedule for the holiday weekend.

Port Hope Among 169 Municipalities Set to Receive Proposed Strong Mayor Powers

The Province of Ontario has announced plans to expand strong mayor powers to the heads of council in 169 additional municipalities. The Municipality of Port Hope is among those listed, with the changes proposed to take effect May 1, 2025.

Statement on the Rose Glen Road Industrial Fire

On April 9, 2025, a fire broke out at an industrial chemical plant in our community. It was a high-risk situation that required an extensive and coordinated response. All three fire stations in our Municipality were deployed, which included 14 apparatus and over 40 of our firefighters to contain and suppress the blaze, preventing what could have been a far more serious incident.
